The Director General of Jordan Civil Defence Receives an SDC Delegation

The Director General of the Civil Defence, Maj. Gen. Abdullah Saliman Al-Hamadneh meets a delegation from the Secretariat-General of the Financial Affairs (SECO) in the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (<>SDC). They discussed the offer of the (SDC) to provide the Civil Defence with (100) paramedic vehicles in addition to enhance the performance of the Civil Defence through training programs that include supplying the labs, training, trainers and maintaining the medical apparatus. The estimated value of this grant is about (15) million $.

The visit included field tours to the Capital Civil Defence Directorate to have an idea about the working procedures in the operation rooms and the number of accidents that the Civil Defence dealt with especially regarding ambulance services. In addition to that, the delegation visited the Royal Medical Services Directorate and theUniversity of Jordan. Furthermore, the delegation was informed about the needs of theses two institutions regarding ambulance services and the level of cooperation and coordination with the Civil Defence since it is the first party which is responsible for dealing with accidents and mitigating their consequences.



The Dean of Prince Hussein Bin Abdullah II Academy of Civil Protection, Prof. Nazzal Al-Armouti briefed them about the academic programs especially in paramedics. The Dean mentioned that these programs are supervised by experts from the universityof Jordan under the umbrella of Al-Balaqa' Applied university.

In addition to that, the delegation visited some of the Civil Defence centers in several governorates to assess their needs in the field of ambulance services concerning vehicles and training. Its worth mentioning that this grant is as a complement to the bilateral a agreement between the Civil Defence and the (SDC) that was signed in 2002.
